The village school project

Almaty, Kazakhstan

Located just 40 kilometers from Almaty, the project site is a secluded, fenced area rich in vegetation, surrounded by open steppe and offering breathtaking views of the mountains.

At the heart of the project is the transformation of a former sanatorium built in 1978 into a modern educational space. The main school building will undergo a comprehensive renovation — with a reimagined layout, upgraded facade, new windows, and fully renewed engineering systems. The updated facility will accommodate up to 90 students, creating a functional and inspiring learning environment.

The project also includes the revitalization of the surrounding territory. A thoughtfully designed event space, organized parking, a landscaped inner courtyard, new lighting systems, and a fully reconstructed perimeter fence will form part of the updated infrastructure. A dedicated service block will also be integrated to support daily operations and long-term sustainability.

Particular emphasis is placed on the development of sports infrastructure.
The plans include the construction of a mini-football field, a tennis court, and a sports block with indoor courts for basketball and volleyball, along with an open-air swimming pool and a rope adventure park. During the design phase, the possibility of adding an indoor sports complex with an integrated swimming pool and enclosed playing field is also being explored.

The landscaping strategy provides for the renewal of all paved surfaces, the creation of new bike lanes, sidewalks, and driveways, as well as the installation of three types of contemporary outdoor lighting.

The project also features a 48-space guest parking area, a dedicated yurt-inspired space, and a public square with an amphitheater in front of the main building.
