Design code of Berdigestyakh village

Berdigestyakh, Gorny District, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Berdigestyakh became the first village in Russia for which a unique design code was developed. An integrated approach to landscaping was launched in 2019 as part of the district's preparation for the XXI Spartakiade for national sports "Manchaary Games - 2021".

Students of the profiles "Graphic Design", "Digital Design" of the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts and the Department of Architecture of the Engineering and Technical Institute of the NEFU were involved in 2019. Students of ITI analyzed and evaluated the existing environment, students of AGIKI launched the work on the search for a logo, on the basis of which the brandbook was created. The pine tree was defined as the symbol of Berdigestyakh.

The team of architects developed a design project of navigation elements and small architectural forms based on the approved brandbook of the village.

Small architectural forms in the form of stops, benches, garbage cans, navigation and fences. The tool for creating a unified architectural appearance is responsible not only for the visual part, but also increases the comfort of the rural environment. Thus, navigation facilitates orientation within the settlement, stops with a shade canopy - the convenience of waiting for public transport, and benches with garbage cans, provide accessibility of rest. Fences, along with the protective function, provide aesthetics and complement the overall perception of the picture.  By changing the external appearance, the design code becomes an impetus for the development of the settlement and influences its socio-economic development.

The students' work received a Bronze Diploma in the nomination "Best Student Project" of the professional competition in the field of architecture and design of Yakutia "Best Project - 2021". The whole project is in the hundreds of the best objects of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the winner in the nomination "The best design of urban environment" of the first architectural award in the field of architecture and design "Eige - 2022". Publication about the project is available on the portal of the expert center "Project Office for Arctic Development"
